Choose freight insurance: safety first
Sending your shipment from A to B. Sounds simple enough, right? But there is actually a lot involved, and unfortunately that leaves a lot of room for errors and accidents. The last thing you want is for your cargo not to arrive at its destination in good condition. The costs are sometimes high and your company can suffer a great deal of damage as a result. We cannot prevent an accident from happening once the shipment is in transit. However, you can protect yourself against damages caused by lost or damaged cargo.
The importance of having your own freight insurance
We recommend taking out your own freight insurance policy. Why?
- Your buyer or supplier may be insured, but relying on that is risky. With your own freight insurance, you know exactly what the coverage is.
- You are liable for the loss of or damage to the freight after a natural disaster, not the freight forwarder.
- You are responsible for stolen or mishandled cargo. Carriers sometimes limit their liability through FenEx or other conditions. If you are particularly unlucky, even replacement costs may not be covered.
