From that date, a transition period was in effect until December 31, 2020. During this interim period, the UK still adhered to EU regulations and laws. However, if you regularly send shipments to or from the UK, it’s crucial to stay informed about all changes regarding customs procedures for shipping packages between the UK and the EU. Brexit has also introduced complex logistical challenges. ## Brexit and its impact on the logistics sector Brexit comes with significant changes to customs declarations, making the process more complex. This is primarily due to the formalities surrounding regulations and procedures. Previously, everything operated under EU guidelines. From 2021 onward, shipping to the UK now resembles shipping to other non-EU countries. The party responsible for customs declarations when shipping to or from the UK depends on the Incoterms 2020.
